Folders help you organize the documents in a project. Use them for books, parts, acts, chapters, research, worldbuilding notes, or any structure that makes your writing easier to find.
A folder can contain documents or other folders. It does not need to match your final manuscript structure; it only needs to make the project easier to work in.
Folders live in the Documents view.
Select the Documents button in the toolbar to open your document tree.
OENT creates a new folder at the root of your document tree. You can rename it or drag it into a different position afterward.
Select a folder in the document tree to expand or collapse it.
When a folder is expanded, you can see the documents and folders inside it. When it is collapsed, its contents stay hidden so the document tree is easier to scan.
Press Escape or click away to cancel the rename.
Drag the folder to a new position in the document tree.
You can move a folder above another item, below another item, or inside another folder. When you move a folder, the documents and folders inside it move with it.
Moving a folder to Trash also moves the documents and folders inside it. If you choose to trash document events, those events are removed from the timeline too.
When a folder is restored, OENT also restores its contents.
