Formatting

Each document can use either Normal formatting or Screenplay formatting.

Normal formatting

Use Normal formatting for prose, outlines, notes, research, chapter drafts, and general writing.

Screenplay formatting

Use Screenplay formatting when you want script elements such as Scene, Action, Character, Dialogue, Transition, Shot, Note, Outline, and Text.

Change the current document's formatting

1. Open the document.
2. Use the formatting dropdown in the editor toolbar.
3. Select Normal or Screenplay.

Change the default for new documents

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Formatting.
3. Change Default Document Formatting to Normal or Screenplay.
